Yin Chaobin lives in Guangdong, China and he crafts sculptures of everyday objects using recycled skateboards. For Yin, the skateboard represents re-birth and skateboarding more generally conveys courage and happiness.
His first body of work explores the refocus of common and familiar objects. Often with everyday objects, they blend into the background of life, often ignored and their significance overlooked. Yin takes objects such as the light bulb or boxing glove, and reimagines them into distinctive sculptures, through various mediums, connecting the real object with the creative artwork. The strong connections between muse and art is not only evidenced in the materials used; a metal lever in his grenade or the real socket used in the light bulb, but also in the production of his art with both hand-crafted and mechanical techniques used to mirror the industrial origins of the object itself.
